BMW built it. No one bought it. By the end of its production run BMW had to throw a $10,000 trunk cash in the car just to move them off the lot. I don't think BMW is dumb enough to fall for THAT again.
I'm one that bought a '07 with the $10K trunk money, drove it for 4 yrs and sold it for slightly less than I had originally paid.

Felt like under appreciated when new, but valued with the passage of time. I guess it's enthusiasts wanted it just couldn't/wouldn't pony up the $55K for new ones.

Was a great weekend car.
