Anybody order or have driving gloves ready to go for their new stick shift? I have some from Autodromo which I love but would love to know of others!

LOL!! Keep the shifter knob clean, I’m kinda anal, but the feeling of driving with gloves is an experience. Guessing you’ve never used them or perhaps your driving style is somewhat grammy like, thus not requiring them. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe you just have sweaty hands compared to the rest of us? I've been to a few autocrosses, never seen anyone else need them. What sort of driving do you do exactly?
Sorry, just felt the need to return some $h!t. On topic, no, never even thought of it. Seemed like another layer to reduce the tactile feedback I very much enjoy. I've got some nitrile gloves with texture on them, maybe I'll have to give it a shot. |

So I've been lurking the g29 forums as Im really interested in the new stick shift z4. I have some oem bmw leather driving gloves and they are great, I really like them. IF you opt for the alcantara interior, which I believe the steering wheel comes part alcantara, you really should wear gloves. The oil in your hands will eventually ruin the alcantara.

Took me a while too but the Autodromos are nice. I even tried some really expensive custom Italian gloves and ended up sending them back cause they didn’t work.

Personally, I use single layer nomex driving gloves when autocrossing or during PDEs....better grip on the steering wheel. Mine are OMP Sport. https://www.ompamerica.com/en_us/omp...es-my2018.html

Back in the day - like 50+ years ago - when I was driving a highly modified TR-6 in Germany - I used driving gloves all the time. Much more comfortable on the hard steering wheel and they improved grip. IIRC [doubtful after this much time] they were deerskin.
I MAY have also used gloves when I had an M Roadster, but can't be sure. I keep a set of light-weight deerskin motorcycle gloves in the Z4 out of nostalgia, but haven't needed them yet. Duncan |

Use Nomex driving gloves on cold days in the Cobra, hard wooden wheel, also AutoX & Trackdays.
Anything else like the Z4 is only AutoX & Trackdays, not used in a daily driver situation. The BMW steering wheels provide a good grip & the heat is nice when its cold. Addressing the OP's issue, would not get gloves for preserving the alcantara. Would be a PITB putting them on & taking them off in a Daily Driver.

I consider my Z4 & M4C as DD's as they get the most mileage per year due to more interstate runs, but still do the stores etc. The others are used based on what they are designed to do. Ranger is 26 years old with the most mileage, number unknown, as the odometer died years ago at 247,000.
