Lease payments are roughly calculated as:

((SALES_PRICE - RESIDUAL_VALUE) / TERM_MONTHS) * MONEY_FACTOR
So for all intents and purposes what you pay for in a lease is the depreciation.
Yes, use and depreciation

That’s 100% correct and then you can start over at a three-year mark, but for someone who’s going to own the car for 10 years then that might not matter to them

Yeah, but earlier you were suggesting to lease the car to avoid the depreciation, when in reality a lease is precisely paying for said depreciation.

Lease rates on EVs are better right now because they can apply the $7500 tax credit. The i4 is currently the cheapest BMW to lease in the US.

The leases on a Z4 are not bad IMO

Yeah, that’s awesome.
I have picked up $30,000 in federal cash on four different EV’s… I’m all too familiar with it but yeah, it’s an awesome way to go…

Z4’s are outperforming their lease residuals. After cap reduction etc. I did well when I leased mine. Around 6.8 cap reduction. My residual is 41000 this December. Now I will have to factor the taxes if I buy it but I will still come out objectively well bring it. Show me where I can buy a an all option 22’ with 25k miles for 41k.
Then again it’s not an investment it’s a toy that I chose to leave because I honestly didn’t know I would love it this much. Figured I would run it in and move on. Simply, I can’t fathom not having it. So unless some crazy offers come by the end of the year I most likely will by this outright and then lease a more passenger capacity improved daily.
