I think most people are afraid of green affecting resale value. I love green cars, my Porsche was green and now my BMW will also be green. Order in, deposit placed!

I like certain shades of green, just not these two offered on the Z4. They are a bit too dark for me.

Just saying.....my San Remo Green 440 has gotten more favorable comments than all of my prior 15 BMW'S....

This is pretty. I love the green but I’m afraid I’ll get bored of it after a while. I’m very partial to black cars and I plan on keeping it long term. Decisions decisions.

My dealer reached out and said I can place my order. I know we have the order guides, but by gosh, I just don't want to place it until I play with the config.
Then again, there's a long while before it actually starts production so I could change it. I think I'll send a build over tomorrow and get an order in.

I hear ya. I also need to chat with the wife once more to get her buy in. And admittedly wrestle with my inner demons asking myself if I actually need another car. I always over think car purchases.

If you want a beautiful roadster that has a MT there is nothing to over think. Just tell your wife that she is making an investment in your future happiness! 👍🏻

If you can afford it, there’s no need to overthink, just do it!

Woot, our CA called to let me know an allocation opened for them and did we want it…..Welp, now we have an appt with him this Sat to spec out what we want!
I ‘think’ the only decision we need to sort out is if we want the ‘standard’ Cognac interior (MAPQ) or the ‘package’ Cognac (MARO) without the door inserts & center console. Seems there’s conflicting info if there’s any legit difference besides the piping and lack of inserts (perforated?)….if there’s not, and it doesn’t affect any of the other ‘restrictions’ in the ZED/7XV pack, I’m leaning towards the standard for more color in the cabin. Besides that, I’ve got the ordering guide highlighted and set to go! (Unless I cave and decide to go Thundernight in lieu of San Remo, hah). |

Yes, when manuals were the predominant transmission globally suppliers surely give better pricing per unit when you're selling millions of units. Now, manuals are special. Transmission suppliers like ZF (who supplies both the 8-Speed auto, which BMW sells millions of per year, and the 6MT, which BMW sells only tens of thousands of per year) would much rather just churn out a buttload of one transmission. It's like going to Costco and buying toilet paper in a pack of 50, versus going to the corner store and buying one roll at a time. The per unit cost comes way down on anything when you buy a huge amount of it at once, and also the R&D cost per unit drops dramatically as the number of units goes up. There's alot less BMW 6MT's than there are BMW 8AT's where that cost can be spread out over alot more vehicles. At least in the US, the $3,500 includes: -Leather which is $1,500 otherwise -Metallic paint which is $650 otherwise -Extended shadowline which is $300 otherwise -19"/20" wheels which on their own by BMW's logic would be $900 (going from the standard 18" to 19" is $600, and if it's $600 for every inch, going from 18" to 20" would be $1,200, so split the diff at $900 for a half and half upgrade). This has you at $3,350 of stuff before you even consider the manual, or the chassis enhancements and changes they mentioned, which are easily worth $150 to me. I get it if you don't care about having some of those things, but you've gotta take 'em, and everyone here should be happy this car exists at all in a world where it really didn't need to. People who pick lame colors on the second biggest purchase they will likely ever make, just to make sure they can maybe sell the car slightly easier someday, are baffling to me. Especially on these specialty vehicles where people seek out unique colors. |

Random thought, but still relevant to keep here…..I REALLY wish the sole driving vid I’ve seen online had better sound. I’m ‘assuming’ the MT didn’t have any significant exhaust changes made, but I’d prefer to hear it. I actually want my pops & burbles, (and in theory, it should be easier to produce on-demand with the MT too), and I’ll be disappointed if I take delivery in x months only to find peace & quiet as I drive off from the dealer.
Edited - asked over on BMWBlog since they got time behind the wheel. Woo-hoo for exhaust noise! |

Individual??
It looks like the Z4 isn't included in the Individual Program?? Am I missing it?
It does need a more visible color selection. Like Java Green or Valencia or Dakar, IMO. |

Me too, but with good reason. The odds of me buying a car I shouldn't have are quite high. What seemed like a good idea at the time doesn't always work out that way.

My sense is BMW is making the manual only available in green and cognac and showing that as the press car image as homage to the British cabriolet sports cars of the past. From a resale value point of view I’d bet the manual exclusive green colors hold best. You won’t see any of them around and they match the press car photos that people will hold on to.
