Obviously I care about handling or I'd have bought a Hellcat instead of a Z4, but it's silly to suggest that only a certain kind of racing takes skill. I guess I could say that driving around corners on the pavement is a piece of cake compared to racing motorcycles through the bush offroad - which I spent 40 years doing... but I wouldn't.

Its just a cultural thing. I obviously can't expect one country who grew up a certain way to make themselves change to another country's or continents way.

NASCAR isn't easy per se. One mistake and it's over that sure. However the relative speeds of the cars arent massively different

Not to mention the ice racing they do here in the foot hills when the lakes freeze over. In cars and on motorcycles. Now that takes some skills!

In America? Ice racing is far far far more popular in Europe especially Finland.

Motorcycles are cool though especially sport bikes. I haven't met an American biker yet that doesn't know what their doing. Any accident that happens usually is the fault of a typical person who's clueless and suddenly swerves or changes lanes and then thinks it's the "speed" that caused the accident not the moronic decision to just change lanes as if they own the highway without looking.

Also I've never understood why people like Harley Davidsons other than they like the looks and the sound and the status of owning one. But I guess I just like driving for sport not for comfort or to pose

I haven't taken my z4 to crowded night time restaurants or bars or clubs or social gatherings yet.

Sorry this thread took a turn.
I think you would be surprised at how many riders death’s are related to poor decisions by the rider. Inexperience and too much testosterone are a bad combination. I have owned every type of bike made. The last couple decades I rode were on BMW’s, mostly touring but a couple GS’s. I have also owned many HD’s. I’m not a “Biker”, I consider myself a MC enthusiast.

I agree. Got a 16 CVO Street Glide and will say it is nimbler than it looks plus I can ride comfortably for a couple of hours. Couldn't do that on my crotch rockets.

Amazing how similar some of us seem to be.

Went Japanese - Yamaha. V-Star 650

Dave - Got the "NASCAR experience" thing at Charlotte Motor Speedway as a Christmas present from the family a few years back. A truly eye opening experience.

Owned a couple of Yamaha metric cruisers. A V-Star 1100 (first bike), later sold it for a Stratoliner, which I then sold for a Vulcan 2000. Should have kept the Stratoliner - handled a lot better for a big twin.

Before I had an alpine white z4 I had the BSM one. All yours needs is black wheels and black exterior trim. Black is sinister on the z4

When I first got black as it was all that was available I had come from a time where I really liked white exterior with red interior. I would drive imagining how much more I'd like the z4 in white. Now that I have it in white I look at photos or in person and the white looks a bit bland and the lines and curves don't show well.

In pictures though the black looks amazing.

Am replacing the trim & grill with black parts, gift from granddaughter. Do not like black wheels.

These are as close to black as I will ever get. Wished the had more polished areas.

Damn, I thought that was the Z for a second! I was all “wait, where can you get drilled rotors for the z4?!”

Would check the aftermarket for drilled rotors. Ones in the picture are stock M4 series.

Best Bike I ever owned was a Honda VFR800 Interceptor. A V4 variable timed valve train. Redline at 13.2k and the second set of valves opened up at 6k on the tach. A comfortable sport tourer and put 54k miles on it. Wish they didn't discontinue it.

Me too; my current two motorcycles are # 46 and #47 respectively. I've owned everything from a Z50 to a ZX6r and a KTM300 to an Electraglide Classic. I've ridden most offroad, dual sport and ADV bikes and a healthy amount of street bikes in various types, sizes and displacements.

This thread has really gone off topic, but here are a couple of my last rides.

Decision is at 95%: I would go for a 30i

Just remapped my 2l turbo family car (sdrive with 50:50 balance) to 240 hp and 420 NM torque: it is amazing, far more power than I need, a lightweight, engaging and revvy engine with lots of low and mid range torque

Thus the 30i with 258 hp looks like the sweet spot for me and a remap is also possible here, just in case.

Just testing my tuned sedan the next weeks and then the order will be on its way.

I'm actually QUITE pleased with the performance of my 30i, from a standstill and accelerating at highway speeds to pass a car. I don't believe you'd be disappointed.

As I understand this configuration is not available in the US?.

The Z4 with the B48 engine, less weight and everything else like the M40, performs exceptionally well in curves.
That is interesting, how much real weight is claimed in your EU CoC declaration? Not just weight, there is also a position "real mass"
