Error codes/ limp mode

Hey guys I have a bmw z4 g29 20i and have noticed every so often maybe once every few month driving in sports on the back roads after a while the car seems down on power. When I read the codes I get the following

1FBE08
24000B
801230

These clear but come back a month or so later while spirited driving any detail to why this may happen would be appreciated

I think that if this happened to me, my first stop would be the dealer. Can’t really help more than that.
Hope you get it sorted quickly…and cheaply

Hit Google to see what they represent, put that info here, and we can collectively see if they seem to be related or make sense.

It actually could be the battery. I don't know about G29 Z4 specifically but am certain that for at least some other BMW's it seems when the battery voltage dips low, all sorts of codes can be thrown for things that don't make sense or are related to the battery at all.

G29 Z4's haven't been out long enough to normally have failing batteries already, yours would be on the early side, but it's always possible. Or if the car sat a long time, or for any reason had a power draw. You can have the battery checked, put through a series of tests, to see how it performs. I wouldn't' think you'd see this while actually driving but again it may be possible.

For codes you can also check their dates, see if they occur at the same time, or at random times. It can give you an idea of their frequency. Pulling codes can sometimes be alarming, any single thing that happens even once and maybe never again can be shown, and it can look like a car is completely messed up. But you could clear them, try again reading them a week later, and might find that none have reappeared. Or try that a few times, keep things cleared, and then when you feel the power loss again check right away and see what comes back - at that point they are definitely related.

Funny enough I thought it would be too early for a bad battery but the z4 being same as supra looked on forums thier sand some 2021 car had bad battery’s too causing some of the codes but not all

My guess would be it's related to heat soak. I have nothing to go on, except years of experience with other 4 cylinder turbo cars with wimpy intercoolers.

I would agree however these have the same air to water cooler as the b58

I'm not convinced the integrated intercooler on the B58 will handle serious driving for any duration. Besides, wouldn't the intercooler on the 4 cylinder model be smaller, since it's integrated with the intake?

So after a little bit of diagnostics I have found 1FBE08 is caused by being in sports and then pressing the start stop button. The other codes I’m still to work out

So I believe I found out the cause of the ionizor fault. Checked my coolant and turns out I had a leaking cap and I looked on the 5 series forum and as the coolant goes into the ac when low on coolant the car directs the coolant else where and then the ac has no coolant causing a code. Topped up the coolant and no code yet

Nice! Glad you found it. Also thanks for following up - if you've had it, someone else will someday as well, and this thread will be very handy.
