Vehicles with the B58 engine

A bit/slightly OT for this sub-forum, perhaps, but started looking around the inner webs (you know how it is) and came across the INEOS Grenadier a Land Rover Discovery ‘replacement’:

https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/us/

Definitely hooked on that, but that’s not the interesting part - it uses the same B58 engine in our favorite Z4!

I was reading up on it after watching Richard Hammond drive one around for a bit on YT. The story RH was relating was the founder of the Grenadier effort bought and restored the first ever Land Rover. Looks like a very nice SUV.

The one thing I did notice is that it's using the B58B30U (282 bhp). That's a lower output version of the B58 than any offered in a US BMW. Interesting choice. Maybe for reliability?

Perhaps so it's able to run on lower octane fuel. What are the torque numbers? That's more important than HP in a vehicle of that type.

It's 332 lb-ft. The specs say 11.0:1 compression, 91 AKI recommended 87 minimum.

It also has a ZF 8HP51 transmission and a 2.5:1 transfer case. Max speed is 99 mph with a 0-62 mph of 8.6 sec.
