It'll have to be considerably wider to look more appealing than the F-Type. Width is what gives the F-Type more presence than cars like the SLC, Z4, 718 or even the 911. If it's relatively narrow like the E85 and E89 it's going to end up looking puny and low rent next to an F-Type. This is coming from someone that's had an E89. If BMW wants potential F-Type customers to opt for the new Z4 they better make it at least 74" wide if not 75.7" like the F-Type. And it's not just the presence they need to worry about - the F-Type (both V6 and V8) sounds unlike any BMW made in the last decade.

Everything depends on the motor and the price. If it's 330hp or whatever with a price of $75k, it will be a joke like all other BMW pricing right now. I have very little faith this thing will even be remotely competitive at its price point, but I sure hope I'm wrong as I love Zs.
I also sincerely hope those rear tires are that big! I can barely fit a 275 on my Z4M. |

You can see direct influences from the Vision ConnectedDrive/328 Hommage in the car. Although both of these concepts are around almost seven years old.
So their ideas are more refined and progressive in the new Z4.

I'm a bit lost though, I thought the new Z4 was coming out in 2018 and the official reveal was supposed to be in a couple days. Now the "concept" is being revealed? Is this actually the car being released or just another concept vehicle?
I'm sick of looking at pictures of cars in black and white camo! lol |

Hmmm - weird sorta 'toad-like" grin - not sure what to make of that - will just need to see the real thing I guess!

Well the last Z4 35is topped out at $76k, so it's unlikely the newer one, with more power, more features, and carbon fiber construction, is going to be $10k less. I had one of those $76k 35is's, and it's the only car I've ever missed after selling it. I've had dozens of cars in my lifetime, and none of them even came close to amount of positive attention that car got. It was gorgeous. The people who complain about the price never owned one, I had multiple people stop me as I'd park to talk about the car, assuming it was $100k+. The right model, color and equipment and it looked the part.

Not sure BMW is too worried le concerned about sound though, if the recent cars are any indication.
