Finally, I'll Soon have a Z4M Roadster Again!

It's been a little over seven years since I let my 2006 Z4M Roadster go. Damn, how I have missed that car. Finally, I will have it again! I just ordered a Z4 M40i with manual transmission and it's estimated to begin production April 14th.

I am so excited to soon be back among the Zed family and rowing gears around town in "The Ultimate Driving Machine". Thank you BMW for finally bringing back the third pedal for us driving enthusiasts!

Now the agonizing wait begins...

Welcome home!

Looks like you have a great spec picked out. The big question is how many times a day will you check your my garage page on BMW’s site?!

I've only done three times tonight, triple checking to make sure all the specs were correct.

Is there a magic number of checks per day they will speed along the build process?!?!?

Appreciate it. I test drove an automatic Z4 M40i about 6 months ago, and while that car drove exceptionally well and felt so familiar once I sat in it, on the drive I must admit my left foot was BORED...and as nice as the ZF 8-speed is, I was worried that I would not like the auto transmission after awhile. As soon as I saw the Z4 Handschalter package announcement, my purchase decision was made!

If the specs are incorrect is there a short period where they can be corrected or too late once in the garage?

I get it! I was concerned at first there wouldn’t be enough involvement but the auto has been very successful in easing that concern. Now with left shoulder issues I’m glad to be able to drive with both hands at all times, steering with a troubled left shoulder/arm would not have been fun while shifting

Congrats!!!

Hopefully you won't suffer from the same OCD that some of our members have experienced and wakeup in the middle of the night to check on your order.

We will be looking forward to you posting pictures when you take delivery!

LOL! Only three times?!

Good luck with the waiting. At least it makes it that much more rewarding.

I completely get this. I had hand surgery years ago that left my right hand unusable for 2 months. Luckily my car at the time was an automatic 2003 Z4, so I could still get around. If my hand injury happened when I had the Z4M, I would have had to rent a car for a couple months.

Now, the new Z4 will be the third car in the garage for me and my wife, so the Z4 is purely my toy. I've got a sensible automatic transmission car for backup.

Skyscraper grey.

For me, BMW roadsters are always grey!

I debated the Frozen Grey, as it reminded me of my favorite BMW color ever: Sterling Grey Metallic on my old 2003 Z4. But I felt I would get tired of the matte finish after a couple years.

Ask and Ye shall receive....From Post #1407 over on the M3/4 SSG thread....I think this is Satin, not sure if that's the same as Stealth, but it's certainly close. 2 more photos in his post.

- Not My Car - but very nice!

skyscraper grey looks fantastic IRL. It looks very different in photos/videos. I saw one IRL yesterday and my mind was made up.

Seeing it in real life is what made up my mind on SSG. I saw it on a 4-Series M40I convertible. It's an excellent medium true gray; darker than the grey on my old 2006 Z4M (which I thought still looked great), and without any of the blue undertones on that car. SSG is just a really nice color.

The added bonus is grey hides dirt really well, which is a huge plus for me since I am not OCD about washing my cars.
