For me personally. I listed my route because on both ends its starts & finishes in the general area I live in.

Just a few things it limits me to 70 MPH not 85MPH+. Does not get me home as I am in the upper north Raleigh area just outside of the Wake Forest area where the lakes are & no charging stations.

The Charging station map says 193 miles, 3 hours & 5 minutes for a trip that takes me a bit over 2 & a half hours. If I travel with the I40 construction site is active & weekdays the work around is 216 Miles & 3 hours & 26 minutes. Would have to plug in at the house when I got home. With the Z4 still have 1/2 tank of gas when I get home.

The Raleigh T station is downtown. Some charging stations like the one in the Wilson area would require me to leave I40 & drive south on I95 to hit the charger.

But the recommended route & speed limit on your map answers the question why are that all seem to be driving slower than the normal traffic flow.

Be interesting to see if they can make the run 193/216 miles at 85MPH on a start of trip charge.

Just to clarify, the route requires no charging assuming you leave with 95% charge, you will arrive with 21% charge remaining. This leaves plenty of margin to drive at 84MPH and then plug in at your destination. BTW, the range on the Model Y is over 300 miles, so 240 +/- if you want to leave ~20% margin. It’s just a different paradigm.

Expect there are a lot of different ranges among the various models.

I was looking at the 3P with 20" wheels as the one I would most likely get. Suggested a range of 231miles @ 80MPH. Could never get by the interior so its off the list in reality.



Think at the current state of technology the best bet is a high powered ICE with a hybrid system.

I spotted a Misano Blue Z4 this afternoon at approximately 2:45 PM driving south on Ocean Blvd. through Golden Beach. I don't believe that the driver saw my car.

I spotted a white Z4 on Scenic Gulf Drive in Miramar Beach Fl yesterday. It’s the first one I’ve seen in the wild in many weeks. I didn’t see a single one on the road from Atlanta to Destin Florida on the drive down.

Only looking at the parking lot for the host hotel and the backup hotel which share the parking lot, it looks like there about 70 cars, of which, there are 8 G29s and, of those, there are 4 M40is.

On a side note and, to point out how fanatical we can be, in one section of the parking lot and with out any preplanning or directions, every Z is backed into it parking space, making two rows of Zs (forty in all), ready to pull out forward for today's drives.

I'll try to post some photos later. Wifi here isn't the best.

Oh, and the closest gas station was selling premium for $6.999 yesterday.

Nope! Its much more fun in Sports+. Lots of great curvy roads here in the Rockys.

Actually I'm getting mileage in the high 20s and low 30s even when having FUN.

It's been a year since I got my car. I emailed my SA yesterday and he said I was fortunate to already have gotten a Z4 M40i, as they're very hard to get right now.

I still haven't seen another G29 while driving mine!

I have been using Adaptive mode for a long time. The problem with Adaptive in the mountains is you need the trans in sports mode to get a good pull out of the corners. I sometimes just push it to the left, but putting it into Sport works too.

Plus I have my doubts that adaptive does all that much for engine - I don't think I get the same noises as in Sport mode or engine response.

Adaptive doesn't make the same noise that Sport+ does even if you put the trans into sport mode.

Looks like my cars missing twin has moved into the area. Have seen it a few times now. Other than that since I bought the car in March 2020 have seen less than 5.

North Raleigh is a gold mine for BMW but the Z4's are true Unicorns.

Yesterday out on a honey do run dropping stuff at the cleaners & UPS a lady coming out of the cleaners said "baby thats a nice car".

She had a Mineral Gray M340. Parked next to me was a white X7. 10 minutes later all 3 of us were parked in the supermarket parking lot around the corner. Lady & myself at UPS the guy with the X7 a few doors down at Walgreens.

Chatted a bit with the guy & he like me was a fan of the PCD program & had picked up the X7 in Greer a week ago.

ZFest is the follow on from Roadster Homecoming which ended when the SC BMW Plant changed their production to SUVs. It happens once a year and the location changes each year.
