As a personal preference however, I prefer the Lagavulin 8 yr over the Laphroig quarter cask though. They are the same price point here...and the Lagavulin just speaks to me a little more. Nothing wrong with a Laphroig though!

I also prefer Lagavulin and Ardbeg over the Laphroig. I find most of the Lagavulin to be similar but there is a lot of variety in the Ardbeg. Corryvreckan is one I did not enjoy much upon opening as there was just too much going on, but after a few months of breathing I have really started to enjoy it more. I do like the slightly lighter peat and fruit notes so most of the other Ardbegs do it for me (An Oa, Uidegail, and most of the Ardbeg Day releases).
