While there may eventually be after-market hard tops, or even a BMW accessory hard top as was the case with the E85 Z4, you will never see a built-in folding hard top that from the factory in the G29 Z4. The fundamental design philosophy of the car was to return it to a more sporting nature. A major enabler of that was the change from the folding hard top convertible design of the predecessor E89 car to the folding canvas top seen in the new G29 Z4. This lowers weight and the car's center of gravity, and is simpler mechanically. |
