Shotgun versus AR. Really depends on your personal situation. Early this year we sold the city house and I retired to the farm on 24 acres. The coyotes have figured out the range on the shotguns.

This is also affected by ammo choice. Shotgun slug will go through a lot of drywall/siding.
I have a red laser on my 12 guage shotty that beams a read light on the target even far away. it has slugs and bird shot alternated in the magazine.
