Not that unusual. Have has a few cars with the engine behind the front axel centerline, Corvettes, Z4, COBRA & all were/are weight biased to the rear wheels. You can see from this how far back the engine can be. On my COBRA the red shock top is at the axel center line.

These cars should be classified as Front Mid Engine cars. The term Mid Engine is a given when the engine is behind the driver but infront of the rear axel centerline
