Seems I have the roof/windscreen click/crack (sounds like something hitting the screen) as described above. At first I thought the noise was coming from around the top of the dash behind the centre screen, however I was out for a while with the roof down - and no click/crack when over uneven roads or some speed humps.
Car is due to go dealers to look at this and other nosies and other issues.
In the meantime if I get the chance I will have a look around the roof/windscreen locking holes to see if I can find anything.
