True, true. But who am I supposed to compare myself to then? Factory spec car, pro driver, closed course is as golden standard as it gets.
And sure, the pro driver will always be faster, a C8 is way quicker than my M2, and I'm no pro. But I only have 16 or so laps around the 'Ring so far. This year that will jump to around 80. And I will push my lap times down to high 7s or at least low 8s. And than the 68 second out of this world gap will shrink to ~30s or so. Which I think is a respectable outcome here and something I can be proud of. That's my line of thinking anyway.
The only better comparison would be against the same car. So 7:58 for 2016 M2 is the time. But that's a full lap time, not BTG. BTG would have been 7:35 or so. Giving up about a second per km on the Ring to pro driver would also be something I can live with.
