1) No hardtop because extra weight added as well as its added higher up in the car
2) In the Car and Driver review, BMW admitted that they screwed up by adding the weight and making the car too soft
3) No trunk space at all with top down
4) Yes the Japanese actually had a hand in this. The Toyota Supra is basically a Z4 with no folding roof and Japanese styling and a different badge.
