I owned a 4Runner for 14 years and sold it recently for a good price with 206k miles on the clock. It sold in 2 days, which suggests the (relatively high) price I sold it for was not high enough. These vehicles are in high demand on the used market.
The 4.0L V6 has been used for about 20 years and is as reliable as they come. The transmission is made by Aisin, one of the two best transmission manufacturers in the world. The other is ZF.
