I would certainly get it done, it would not look good when you sell/trade it in to have an engine replacement recall open
I'd rather have them swap the whole engine then take a shot at tearing the whole thing down and replacing the balance shaft/bearings..
I thought mine was OK, I read about the recall before buying, but maybe not.
