The strength of the Miata is the fun factor. The '97 was so much more fun than the '04. It's when the car doesn't take itself too seriously that it's best.
My S2000 was a car that would kill you for not knowing how to drive really, really well. The Exige is the same. No hooning allowed.
Those cars have presence, and performance, but they aren't anywhere near as fun IMO. They are just waiting to kill you.

I get the fun part, but hey, if one's head is screwed on differently, they can argubly say that they have fun drving a school bus.

, how's the handling compare when you're whipping it around canyon roads, twistys, etc? For sure I know that your Lotus and S2000 have more power but I've always held handling as the top criterion for sportiness.
