I feel much safer on a racetrack at 150 mph with a motorcycle than at 35 on the street. No inattentive people in cars, generally no kids or animals running into the street in front of you... although I did almost hit a huge snake that was crossing Turn 6 at Laguna Seca.
I was about halfway tipped into the turn when I saw the guy in front of me stand his bike up to avoid it... I just rode straight off into the gravel trap. Hitting that sucker at full lean probably would have produced a nasty highside when the rear started spinning up on slippery snake guts, then hooked up on dry pavement again.
