Satellite imaging technology has improved to the point where planes like the U2 and SR-71 are no longer needed, especially with the possible embarrassment of another Gary Powers incident. Both planes were built in a time when the state-of-the-art for spy satellites was dropping exposed film canisters for recovery and processing on the ground in a darkroom days/weeks after the pictures were taken.....
