I never saw the first one, but I do agree it seemed like it was a bit rushed.
I'm expecting another...I want to know what the hell page 47 is all about....Nick Cage was interviewed last week by the local rock morning show, he sort of hinted to another movie. So we'll see.
If you enjoy history I recommend the movie.
