Other than a good wash like you said, I went over the dry car carefully with a microfiber cloth to look for and feel for any dirty or rough areas. It is easier to feel a problem that actually see it.
There were only a few areas that needed attention. One spot I used a clay bar to pull out some contaminates. Nothing really significant.
The important thing, I think, is to apply the ceramic as soon as possible. I started literally the day I brought it home, getting it ready.
