My grandpa was in the drug store business. When I was a kid in the '60s, he kept a bottle of carbon tetrachloride around. That stuff would clean the stripes off a zebra. Had the greatest smell. It's not commonly available any more, since more than 3 sniffs in any 6-month period will turn your liver into an anvil.
