I've see NOTHING in the 2+ months we've been here in CA that would make me want to pay the crazy prices they are asking for real-estate here. Plus after you spend half a million dollars on a fixer upper like my friend did (in some no name town surrounded by farms and not the pretty kind) you still have to pay 9+% sales tax, state income tax, double the price on gas, tax on bags, bottles, soda... oh and what do you get for that? Shit ass fucking roads that have already caused 2 blowouts on our rv.
I think a lot of people (like my friend) live here because they think they don't have a choice (work, family etc), but the people who actually choose to live here because they love it and think it's worth the $$ it costs to live here are just freaking insane to me (unless you're stupid rich and money is of no concern to you, then knock yourself out).
