I was 6 years old and lived in Orlando so we went outside into the fields at our elementary school to watch the launch. I didn't understand what really happened at the time, but I can remember the shock on my teachers face and tears streaming down her face as we watched it all happen right in front us.
That night my parents explained what happened and tried to explain what life and death mean. I don't remember much from that era of time but I can still remember that day vividly.
