I have a stock GTI ...I don't think that it lacks power. It replaced my 135I as my DD which had a tune. The GTI it sounds great does 1/4 in less then 15 gobs of torque. You complain about all those cars but being honest for the price what else do you want a civic si? a genesis? a corolla? I'd drive a cooper S over a 328I. I had a feb production 08 135 bought new had it for 2 years. The ms3,cooper,gti handle better then the 135I.Sure you can't drift those FWD cars but they can be fun. Honestly I wanted to chip the GTI but already in it's stock form torque steer is terrible left right left right.
