This is one I had and let get away. Long ago ex-wife and yours truly in '84. We had a great thing together and we both worked diligently to screw it all up. We've been exes for decades, but we still email back and forth every now and then. At 60 years old. That's just the way she is.
Our big flaw was a mutual hatred of conflict, which meant we never talked out our issues. We just went into silent running and let the issues fester. Now that we're older and wiser, we often talk about how stupid we were to let the relationship slip away. But we've both moved on and have other lives now, so what's past is past. Still, she's the one that got away.
