A Toyota will last you 10 years with basic maintenance and with little problems. A Ford has a 3~4 years lifespan and are expensive to maintain so you'll need to buy at least two Fords to match the single Toyota. Over the long run, it's still better to buy a Toyota.

Hopefully, Ford will realize that improving quality/reliability and building vehicles that the whole public want to buy is a good thing to do.
