Have you checked the box "Automatic PDC activation" in menu ?
We have several models of bimmer in the house from 2019 to 2202 (G01, G02, G82) and all have the same behavior for front /rear cameras when doing the parking. And when in traffic, if it goes really slow then the front camera would also turn on (the car thinks you are finding a parking space !)
