The rumours that have followed this are incorrect. You can still order an M8 in Europe, and other regions.
I believe it's the North American region that has postponed the 2021 model year.
Anyway here is the first stand-alone BMW M model. The XM.
If you think that it's a ridiculous idea -Mercedes-AMG are also planning an AMG based stand alone SUV. As are Porsche with a Taycan-type SUV. It's a big market and lucrative for Peformance manufacturers to plunder. Especially when offered with electrification options.
It's form is more like a larger X2 rather than the Coupe outlines of X4 and X6. The XM will be available as a four seater as well as the typical five seater.
