And why would they do that? BMW has two cars in their history with mid engines. One was built by Lamborghini and the other has a Mini engine and a block of batteries.
The two previous M Roadsters were actually more entertaining than the somewhat anodyne Boxster. Both have their place, but I'd strongly prefer BMW return to the fun, slightly murderous nature of the previous MR's and not try to make a bad Boxster copy.
