You will use less throttle out of a normal traffic light start, passing will be quicker, all round driveability will be better as the car is just more responsive.
An inline 6 is naturally smoother running than an inline 4 with the added benefit to some it sounds a whole lot better.
If you have to mod it to be happy the 6 will always get more power with equal modifications.
FWIW Not been buying BMW's that long first was a 2004 330 ZHP convertible. One of the things I noticed is the majority of the debadged cars were the base power versions.
