This was in the very early 90s.We had traditional cable box from a local cable provider that no longer exists. Coming from the coaxial cable out of the wall, there was a little black box with an "A" and "B" switch. A side was local traditional channels and the B side was cable subscription channels. When the parents were away at work, we would switch it to the B side and watch some scrambled green, purple and gray side boob. So exciting to catch a glimpse, haha.

Ya, We had a similar set up but with the huge satellite dish.
We first had to locate the satellite and then input a code to unscramble the transmission. My dad would get the code every month or so by visiting the store which sold him the dish.
This was late 80's early 90's
