The whole Boxster/Cayman situation seemed odd to me. The 982 was no more than a refresh with new engines. Seems they only did it due to global emissions regulations forcing them to move to 4 cyl engines. They marketed it as an all-new car but it wasn't. For an 8 yr old car, the 981/982 still looks fresh.
That's the thing, are most cars really "new from the ground up"? Correctly me if I'm wrong but I recall reading an article years ago saying that the average car will retain anywhere from 30%-50% of its predecessor components.

Agree, the 981/982 still looks nice. I also think the 86 looks alright for a $26k car. It seems that most people main complaint is the lack of power.
