Give it a couple years...like 5-10 years or so...you might be surprised. I say this because I think you have only recently started out in the Scotch world haven't you?
I know when I started, I spent probably close to 7 or 8 years enjoying the Speyside region particularly in terms of Scotch, but also some Highlands / Lowlands as well, and absolutely couldn't stand Islay scotches. They were terrible to me.
But then a bottle of Ardbeg was presented to me as a gift one year and I suffered my way through that bottle, because I'm cheap and wasn't going to throw it out or gift it away. And lo and behold, I started to appreciate the peaty and briny scotches afterwards. It hasn't changed my love of Speyside, but I do appreciate having the sharp disparity between the two in my cabinet so that depending on what I feel like, I'm changing up my game on a regular basis.
I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes you...it will take years and then suffering through a bottle or two.
