I'm sure there would be but you have Porsche and Ferrari racing versions of engines they put in their road cars so that gives the impression they beat on/push what they sell you on the track. Then you look at BMW and they don't race their inline 6's...they take the previous Z4, find a loop hole and shove a v8 in it. I know they currently race the M6 but that's huge and to most people...they consider that a touring car. Now the M2/M3/M4 are more representative of what most people consider a sports car from BMW...and they should be racing those with a version of the engine that is available in the car for road use. Again...kind of like Porsche/Ferrari/Audi/Lamborghini etc.
