I'm actually not a fan of the Macallan 12 yr, specifically the double cask. The 15 is twice as good but not twice as expensive.
Balvenie 15 is also good.
Any Japanese whiskeys in the $60-70 range are solid if you like smooth and smokey. Ex: Suntory Hibiki
Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition (blended) is a good cheaper bottle.
Glenfiddich 14 and higher.
Any Glenmorangie.
Highland Park 18.
Any Lagavulin.
Any Oban.
Dalmore 12/15 for sherry and orange notes.
Wild Turkey, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve (double oaked) for bourbon.
