While not a fan of the BMW early 4-cylinder turbo engines, they do work even better with the 8-speed auto trans than the normally aspirated 6-cylinder did. The newer "30" 4-cylinder turbo engine works even better on all counts and many test-driving it mistake it for a 6-cylinder.
