Plus, besides the points about the cylinder size and parts sharing, what real value does a 1.6L I4 have in the lineup when they have the 1.5L I3? They've finally completed the transition away from the 1.6L N13 to the 1.5L B38, and now they want to bring in a replacement? It doesn't make sense. I'd be very surprised if this happens.

The bigger question is where is the compact 4L 91mm bore-center V8 to compete with VAG and Mercedes? Are they going to offer one or just hold onto the current 98mm bore V8 until V8s themselves are phased out in a decade or two?
