Leave the M2 to be the only 'pure' M car in the whole of M's line up
M3, M4, X3, X4 has the xDrive with the S58
With xDrive they need to add a front diff, a transfer case, drive shafts, fluids...all these extra weights = no thanks(

Respectfuly, not really! "These people" do not necessarily buy X1-X6..., but something like a Pilot, 4Runner etc. I believe you CAN get an M3 or M4 with or without Mx-drive and you can also drive it (like the M5) with RWD only. Yes, more weight, but not as much an many people think. Plus, as you read in this forum, there are people out there interested on x-drive in an M2, as there are for the M5, M4 and M3. Enthusiast can simply choose their M. car configures as they want. I appreciate smaller cars, just as my 11' e90 (x-drive) is about as big as I like a car, which why I started to look at the M2 (kept my e90 335 x-drive as my DD). Hopefully BMW has what I want when I start to consider my next BMW.

Call me small minded, but I do not want to see an xDrive M2. Let this thing be the purist M car we have. (I'm against a GC version as well
)
