The four-cylinder Z4 sDrive30i starts at $50,695, undercutting the Porsche 718 Boxster by almost $10,000 but also ceding 45 horsepower to the mid-engined droptop. The 2020 BMW Z4 M40i opens at $64,695 and arguably makes a better foil to the Boxster with the promise of more power and much more standard equipment. We won't decide that contest here, but we can confidently say it is closer than ever before.”
