You need Connected Package Professional on your car to have the Spotify app in the menu.
Mine was there from new but disappeared after a trial subscription expired in Feb. I got the car update to 03/2020 by the dealer and it is now back, working without using my phone app.
Interestingly, my mates 520d has Spotify but it uses his phone and is not independent like mine. Obviously his is a lower level car with lower spec apps.
