Did you guys know that it's FWD(Front wheel drive)????
Ford were originally going with AWD but thought that the added hardware is unnecessary weight add and, FWD with a differential could handle just as well.
I say BS. They just wanted to save money and keep the cost low. I don't care how good a differential is on FWD....at the end of the day, your still stuck with bad 'Understeer'.
Final verdict: it will always be AWD>FWD.
And here's a statement made by an engineer for Focus ST to make us believe a FWD was the better choice.
Quote:
We gave all-wheel-drive careful consideration – but by combining and tuning these elements and learning from Ford's expertise in industry-leading handling, we believe we can eliminate the weight of AWD from the car and still deliver a class-leading balance of traction, handling and performance.
"The result is a lightweight set-up, that will deliver the right blend of traction and razor sharp controllability – in a way no one would have expected from front-wheel-drive,"
