Ok BMW
YOU have been developing fuel cell cars for decades. WHEN can I buy one? 2048? 3821? Maybe never?

The front of it does look better than the iX. Not great, but doesn't make me wanna puke.
I don't even know what to think anymore about hydrogen powered cars. On paper it could be great, but so many buts. |

Please make an electric X5 before politicians tax the hell out of it!! (here in Norway). I'd buy one on the spot!

I don't know why BMW keeps using their flagship models as little Petri dishes to see what its customer base will tolerate. I was hooked on BMWs when they restyled the 3-series in the early 1990s, and we've owned at least two since. Now I have an X5 (G05) and my wife drives a Tesla Model 3. I've always bought BMWs because I was attracted to their styling. That's been more difficult to achieve with the current direction of their design language. Some have said "you'll get used to it". I don't buy a near-$100K vehicle because "I'll get used to it". I buy it because I'm drawn to it, and WANT to own it. My next purchase is coming up in a year or two, and for the first time in almost 30 years I'm not certain that it will be a BMW.

Those cylinders are old tech and takes too much space. I am guessing this is just a RWD model. Check out this new Hydrogen capture and containment system by Plasma Kinetics. https://plasmakinetics.com/

"Provided the hydrogen is produced using renewable energy and the necessary infrastructure is available, this technology can complement the BMW Group’s electrified drive train portfolio – and, in particular, meet the needs of customers who do not have their own access to electric charging infrastructure, frequently drive long distances or desire a high degree of flexibility."
I'm team hydrogen!

The next Hybrid will be this… it's currently gas/electric and it will become electric/hydrogen to bring in the flexibility. For those stuck in the past they will not like the look of this future but like it or not it will arrive. I'm enjoying my last BMW V8 while I can but I will also enjoy what I move to next all the same. #Inevitable

Hydrogen is indeed the future, however I would like to see the hydrogen burned in an ICE (water is the only exhaust), as this would allow a manual transmission.
JCB is doing this now! Also, the Hydrogen Fuel Cell is delicate, finicky, complicated and still requires a large battery (with lithium shortages looming). JCB is leading the way to use existing technology to burn hydrogen in our existing engines with a head modification and fuel source modification…. Keeping the manual transmission! I would like to be able to fix my own ICE, versus going to the dealership to get my fragile H2 Fuel Cell repaired. |

Hydrogen cars go vroom and have gears right? If so I'd be down.
