That's a very gentle insult. Almost tolerable. Thank you.

There is considerable interest for the iX, increased since the introduction. You will find a minority of interest on enthusiasts boards, however enthusiast boards tend more to contribute to specific models however cross-pollination in one subject tends to focus on one or more models, a concept, and here a change in the design status quo.
This of course generates from the radical moves against the "expected" safe words as THE 4 & M3 & M4. As the revolutionary circle starts to spin the traditional is replaced with new interpretations and new ideas which avoids the bearer in this case BMW becoming labelled as stale and conservative as what was expected is now what was unexpected. The iX fills this category as it aims to broaden its appeal with the traditional elements of what you expect from a BMW but introduces another element to those that did not think a BMW could offer this.

I would have thought bmw learned their lesson from the "quirky" looking i3's design and how it was pretty much universally panned as ugly, yet they decide to continue with that design language.
For me the front and the side profile is just plain ugly. The rear is not bad. I quite like the interior. Really wished they would have made a futuristic cool X5 design vs a larger jacked up i3. Based purely on looks, i would take the audi and the benz over the ix |

It seems like the design team is caught in an echo chamber of self-delusion. Sales will tell the picture but one of the leading indicators is immediate customer feedback and it is terrible so far.

i3 is a success, and an excellent car. But it is certainly ugly.
To me i3 is better than iX (within its use case), as it is truly lightweight and does not pretend to have a CF cell. It's the real deal, without the cost cutting on iX. |

On my second i3 now an i3S. The rumours of its demise have been exaggerated. Another update is expected.

BMW's arrogance thinking they are the Apple of the car world, "whatever we build people will buy" will be evident in sales decline in the coming years if they continue with their self-indulgence. My only hope is the i4 now. Praying they don't mess it up.

I honestly hate any car with these dashboards. It looks so stupid. I prefer a built-in look I suppose...

Having a fully carbon frame is really epensive, so not sure you can consider that "cost-cutting", more like "making it sustainable"

There was a report a while ago that BMW dialed back the autonomous driving capabilities of the iX and no longer targets level 3 or whatever it was. |

Remove the BMW badge, and the iX looks like an Kia. Sorry to say, but BMW has lost it, and the customer experience/services are terrible.

The quote from that tweet is insulting. People actually use the things inside the car that they've determined it "doesn't need". So now to increase heating fan speed you get to press two buttons on a touchscreen instead of one physical button that's easily within reach. Or whatever function you've programmed to the 1-8 shortcut keys that are now gone, you get to attempt to activate by voice or digging through several menus. But by their account we "didn't need" any of that.

I didn't see that one! Holy crap that's unbelievably bad. If I weren't so pissed-off about them eliminating coupes and roadsters whilst further developing their relationship with Toyota, I might start to pity them... I mean really..
