Cool. Just got some Optimum suds and a new microfiber sponge. Car is pretty dirty after our last rain along the side brake vent and back. Everywhere else is clean lol

Optimum products are really good chemistry. I went crazy with this detailing stuff and made some really good buys at 2 online detail supply stores like this one. https://www.autogeek.net/detailingtools.html Stuff like glass cleaner/coating, polymer sealant, micro fiber cloths both big and small, misc. coatings, bucket screen that sits about 2" above the bottom of a 5 gallon paint bucket so the dirt drops to the bottom and stays down there, fabric spray which I don't plan to use for a while..... If things get REALLY dirty you can use the screen insert as a rub scrub for your hand wash glove. I even ceramic coated my laptop screens, coated some fancy bathroom faucets, etc., big bathroom glass blocks. Lots of house stuff you can play with too. |

The car was ceramic coated where it wasn't PPF'ed. Of course my brain says... it shouldnt' be getting dirty... but .. obviously it's still going to collect dust and dirt from the nasty water that splashes up on it.

First wash since the Ceramic and PPF was applied. Daaaaaaaaaamn it was nice. Niiice and shiny. I have some videos showing the hydrophobic properties of both. These towels that I got are insaaaaaaane!! They work sooo well and are incredibly soft. I need to figure out how to wash them though. No instructions.
I’m gonna redo the upside down picture of the car later. No idea why it’s doing that. Last edited by Horseman; 08-07-2021 at 10:19 PM.. |

Yes, that Optimum is the bomb but Carpro's Reset is even better. It's the perfect match for all ceramic coatings. 3 years down the line and you'll think you just coated the car again after washing your fave with Reset. Amazing chemistry! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I throw my microfibers in the laundry. They can take a lot of cold washes with no change. I don't do the mitt anymore. I use a soft bristle brush on a 5' pole which cuts the time in half on the X5 or bigger cars. (And no it won't scratch, induce swirls - nada) Wheels get the special stiff bristle treatment, hand held wand. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

BAH.. noticed some peeling near the lower front side wheel vent. dirt got under there too, so I'm probably going to have to have them check that out and fix it. Same with one of the side view mirrors.

I guess that's the risk you take with an exterior applied PPF material. If you feel uncomfortable with this perhaps you can make a deal - take it off and do a ceramic coating in its place. |

I hear ya. I chose not to do the ppf. Will get the car back wednesday with ceramic and tint. I paid extra for the ceramic on the calipers and wheel barrels. Wanted the brake dust to come off easy.

I hear ya, it's a damn inconvenience. We have to drive 65 miles to the S.A. BMW. They always get us a rental loaner which is nice as we go on to do our shopping at The Rim - Total Wines, Sam's Club, etc. A nice lunch at Tioga Grill makes it all worthwhile.

True but the place is doing it for 62.50 per wheel. Seemed like a good deal.

I applied Optimum Opti Seal, a polymer wipe on/wipe off coating, to all hidden painted surfaces i.e. inside doors, sills, pillars, trunks, etc. on both bimmers. |

Sweet. Talked to the guy today and mentioned that Meguires Gold without wax is a great go to for the frozen gray.
