You confirm what I really expected. We've been to the UK several times, including "The North", but not into Scotland. We've added Scotland, and maybe the Shetlands to my list. My list already include puffins, so I might kill two birds with one stone. I'm hoping that with a little planning, we can hit a fair share of sunny weather. The BBC seems dead set on making Scotland and Scandinavia (the BBC's Wallander, filmed in Sweden, made it look absolutely horrid). I think they use a "dreary-filter" on all exterior scenes. I find myself periodically saying, "Sun's out" to my wife, so she'll notice the false dreary. Cheers, Dave

Wifey's biennial UK conference will be in Edinburgh in Sep 2018. Can't wait for that one. Been looking forward to seeing Scotland.

Many thanks Gents!
I loved Scotland when I visited there several times in the Air Force. Unfortunately I can't hike around like I used to that makes traveling to the old world a challenge these days. I love to look at the pictures though! |

Monsta, great shot of Yokohama Bay.
Ed, you must have an acute shortage of wall space. This is "a hanger".

I may have posted this back when it was new, but I recently mined my archive for stuff that might sell on Getty. This was taken from my balcony on the Queen Mary II, returning to the East River from England. You see lower Manhattan, as seen over Governor's Island, from the East River. The morning light was nice and One World Trade Center had recently shed it construction scaffolds and crane.

Not the greatest pic, but...
Ever since we bought our house, I've put a lot of work into re-naturalizing the property with PA Native Plants, gardening for wildlife, etc. In my front bed, I've created a Native Specimen garden with some pretty rare plants. One of the highlights are the Lady Slipper Orchids. They started flowering earlier this week. Pretty plant. Yellow Lady Slippers by Josh, on Flickr |
