How about that.
And the supposedly hideous front is revealed, turning out to be great looking as the side profile and rear end. Wow, BMW have after releasing boring models one after another, presented some awesome looking cars, first the 8 series then this Z, wow BMW, i love what we are seeing thus far, keep it up!

How so? It's not 4K pounds. Or a mid engine roadster with literally no storage space. Or a torque free Subaru.
Actually feels like a bit of a return to form for BMW, just a slightly impaired Boxster, no longer a soft SLC competitor. |

Looks nice, for sure. But with a starting price in the $60K range, it's hard to justify a 6-cyl. Z4 over a well-equipped and many thousands cheaper M240i.

As much as i am glad it's not 4K pounds and agree with you about those merits...this is for all intensive purposes a BMW-ized Supra. That's not a bad thing; but the design and basics of this car do NOT scream BMW. They scream Toyota. My feeling is this will perform quite well because Toyota has been working years on this upcoming Supra. My point is; where is the BMW DNA here? I don't see it..

I really like it a lot, but I want some interior photos showcasing a different color than black. I know the car will have cognac and oyster as options and I want to see how that changes the interior and brightens it up.

Although it has plenty of cons, and may be completely impractical, I kind of miss the idea of the gas cap behind the license plate. Yes the cons, but that gas cap door lines are fairly pronounced and moving that would obviously clean that up. Oh and you don't have to worry about which side of the pump your on!
Hey, at least I didn't suggest behind the taillight like the ’56 Chevy Bel Air.

Go be condescending to your knitting group, I think we all know this had Toyota's input here. But I also suspect they had very little actual control of the chassis, if any. If they had, don't you think it would have a back seat, like, oh, every previous Supra? For each of the Z cars, outside of the Z8, BMW has stretched their design language and it been tied to the sedan and coupe language. Good on them for not being as staid with this one as the last Z4. |

I'd say that the Supra isn't much Toyota at all and 90% BMW with a Toyota designed() body basically. |

You have it right, Toyota was as involved with this car as Fiat was with the 124. And yes, the Supra has always been a 2+2, until now. Why would they possibly design a new one not to be unless they were just getting what BMW gave them?

Isn't it convenient that we don't see the front. I agree everything looks great, but we still can't see what they did with the front. It may still look like the leaked photos and if it does that will not be good.

Agree, but in a few years we won't have a 2 Series convertible to choose, so it will be either be the G29 Z4 or the GXX 4 Series / M4 if sticking with a BMW convertible. I like everything I see so far, especially the short front and rear overhangs. Waiting on the specs and hoping it's easy on the scales. I don't really need a rear seat so for me it may come down to how low to ground it is and what my lovely wife thinks of it. My grail car is a 991 Targa 4S. While my wife and I were in the car heading home the other day, a gorgeous Targa 4S passed us and I commented to her how much I liked that car and her comment was "that's really low to the ground". Couple that with her comment will zipping through traffic on our way to dinner on night in my M235 with the top down "we don't need to race do we", I am guessing it would take a lot of "splainin" on my part to get a Z4, let alone a Targa 4S, so a GXX M4 may be my best bet - not quite as low as the Z4 or Targa and looks more sedan / GT ish. Only time will tell. Til then, I love my M235 vert.

I think it's almost really good. I wish the headlights had the sharp corners of the concept as it made the front end look wider and just sharper overall. Also, I think BMW's new rear ends are way too tall and bulky looking. The rear end of this car looks like it is sagging and it just looks so tall, just like the 8er and the upcoming X4.

"BMW has developed a platform that will also underpin the upcoming Supra, with both cars set to be assembled by contract builder Magna Steyr in Austria. Although it had been reported as a co-development, all of the core engineering comes from BMW, with the big differentiator being the headgear: The Supra is a coupe, and the Z4 is a fabric-roofed roaster." - Car & Driver, Z4 Prototype Drive Review. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...e-drive-review |
